There's nothing quite like the taste of fresh, homemade strawberry jam on a warm piece of toast in the morning. Not only is it a delicious addition to your breakfast, but it's also incredibly easy to make. In this blog, we'll share with you our favorite recipe for making homemade strawberry jam.
Ingredients:
2 pounds of fresh strawberries
2 cups of granulated sugar
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
Directions:
1. Start by washing your strawberries and removing the stems. Cut them into small pieces and place them in a large bowl.
2. Add the sugar to the bowl of strawberries and mix well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for at least an hour or until the sugar has dissolved.
3. Once the sugar has dissolved, pour the strawberry mixture into a large pot. Add the lemon juice and unsalted butter to the pot and mix well.
4. Place the pot on medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir frequently to prevent the mixture from burning.
5. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 45 minutes or until the mixture has thickened. Make sure to stir occasionally.
6. To check if the jam is done, place a small amount on a plate and let it cool. If it thickens up and doesn't run, then it's ready. If it's still too runny, let it simmer for a few more minutes.
7. Once the jam is ready, remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Then, pour the jam into sterilized jars and seal them tightly. Let the jars cool to room temperature before storing them in the refrigerator.
Enjoy your delicious homemade strawberry jam on toast, scones, or even as a topping for ice cream! It's a perfect way to sweeten up your day.
